National Cherry Festival

Traverse City is the Cherry Capital of the World, and since 1925 it has thrown the nation's biggest party for the fruit - an eight-day, half-million-visitor blowout that began as a humble 'Blessing of the Blossoms.' Expect Blue Angels air shows over Grand Traverse Bay, two grand parades, a cherry-pie-eating contest, a cherry pit-spitting competition, and eight nights of music, all crowned (of course) with a cherry.
