National Blueberry Festival
South Haven crowns itself the Blueberry Capital of the World - Van Buren County grows more highbush blueberries than anywhere in the nation - and it's backed the claim with one of the country's oldest fruit festivals since 1963. Four days on the Lake Michigan waterfront bring a blueberry pie-eating contest, a Steelheaders fish boil, sand-sculpture competitions, a pancake breakfast that sells out, and a parade, all built around 100 million pounds of Michigan's favorite little berry.
