Paw Paw Wine & Harvest Festival
The village is named after the pawpaw fruit, but the welcome sign out on M-40 shows a cluster of grapes - because Paw Paw became the heart of Michigan wine country, home to St. Julian, the state's oldest and largest winery. Every September the grape harvest gets a three-day party: fireworks over Maple Lake, a classic car show, a 5K around the water, and the beloved Grape Stomp, where teams climb into the vat in clothes they'll never wear again - complete with a Lucille Ball look-alike contest.
