Omer Suckerfest

Omer is Michigan's smallest city, about 270 people, and every spring it calls itself the Sucker Capital of the World. When the suckers run up the Rifle River from Lake Huron, anglers line the banks for a fishing tournament built on a local tradition that goes back to the 1930s. Vendors set up selling gear and handmade goods, people share bank space and fishing tips, and nobody pretends it's fancy.
