Munger Potato Festival
Since 1954, this Bay County town of 1,500 has swelled to 40,000 every summer for four days of unabashed potato worship, run entirely by the volunteer fire corps. The signature move: free potatoes handed out to everyone, every night. Add a demolition derby, a figure-eight race, a 'Spud Run' 5K, a hometown parade, and the crowning of a Potato Queen, and you've got one of Michigan's largest community-run festivals in one of its smallest towns.
