Silver Lake Sand Dunes Apple & BBQ Festival

Oceana County's orchards meet a wall of sand here - Silver Lake's 2,000 acres of dunes are one of the few places in America you can legally drive an ORV over them - and every September the town celebrates the end of the busy tourist season with smoke and apples. Thirty thousand people turn out at Golden Township Park for pitmaster barbecue, an apple pie contest, 140-plus craft vendors, the Apple A Day 5K, axe throwing, and a classic auto and ORV show, with proceeds going back into local projects.
