Marquette HarborFest
It started in 1984 as a seafood feast - the Rotary boiling lobster and Lake Superior whitefish for an end-of-summer meal on the shore - and over forty years it grew into a free three-day music festival on the water at Mattson Lower Harbor Park, though a whitefish stand has come back as a nod to the origins. Local U.P. bands and tribute acts play till eleven, sunsets do the rest, and every dollar from wristbands and the beverage tent has helped the Rotary grant more than $700,000 to over fifty local nonprofits.
