Manchester Chicken Broil

Every July since 1954, Manchester has grilled about 7,000 half-chickens over charcoal in four long pits, and the whole region shows up to eat. The broil started "to give the women the night off from cooking," and the plate still comes with radishes. Volunteers run it, and there's a drive-thru if you can't stay.
