Thumbfest

For one Saturday before Labor Day, this Lake Huron harbor village of a few hundred fits 53 performance sets from 47 acts onto six stages, plus seven workshops, seven themed jam sessions, a drum tent, and a kids' area - twelve hours of folk, blues, bluegrass, zydeco, Celtic, and old-time, and not a dollar charged. Run by the all-volunteer Blue Water Folk Society on donations and sponsorships, it nearly folded a few years back until the village rallied and saved it. Bring your own instrument; there are jam sites waiting.
