Kalamazoo Nature Center Maple Sugar Festival

Kalamazoo has celebrated sugar season at its nature center for more than six decades; 2027 is the 61st festival. The day starts with a pancake breakfast under real Michigan maple syrup, then fills with sugaring demonstrations, horse- and tractor-drawn wagon rides and old-time games. The standout: Chris Chosa, an Ojibwe descendant on KNC's staff, recreates maple sugar-making methods more than 500 years old in the Arboretum, and you can watch and talk with him while he works.
