Ishpeming Italian Fest

Southern Italians from Calabria, Naples, and Sicily came to Ishpeming in the 1890s to work the iron mines as trammers and ore shovelers - and built a community so rooted that families ordered trainloads of grapes each September to make 150 gallons of wine a year. The St. Rocco and St. Anthony Society keeps that heritage going with a summer festival honoring the two saints, and they're clear that everyone's welcome regardless of ancestry: come for the food, the music, and a day that feels like somebody's family reunion.
