Blissfest
In 1981 a handful of employees at a Petoskey natural food store - part-time musicians all - pooled their passion into a one-day acoustic folk event in a potato field, raising money for an alternative school in the hamlet of Bliss. That's where the name came from, and 45 years later it's one of Michigan's most beloved festivals: 125-plus acts across eleven areas of a 200-acre farm near Cross Village, drawing 5,000 people and a thousand volunteers. Camp the weekend and you might catch the Northern Lights over the main stage.
