Frankenmuth Flower Festival
This one began by accident: a farmer at heritage-era Grandpa Tiny's Farm planted 25 acres of sunflowers as a humble cover crop, was struck by how gorgeous they were in bloom, and 'threw an invite out into the universe' - to which 3,000 people replied overnight. Now every August those towering fields open for u-pick (each guest takes home one sunflower), alongside dinner in the sunflowers, sunflower yoga, a color run, and craft vendors in the middle of Michigan's Little Bavaria.
