Frankenmuth Bavarian Festival
Frankenmuth is Michigan's Little Bavaria - a whole town of half-timbered German architecture - and every June its marquee festival turns the heritage all the way up. Authentically costumed German bands, the local schuhplattler dancers, two parades, a maypole (maibaum) raising and ceremonial keg-tapping anchor a weekend of bratwurst, imported beer, and Bavarian pride in the middle of the Michigan Thumb.
