Grand Raven Festival
Every October, downtown Farmington transforms into a month-long Edgar Allan Poe tribute presided over by Edgar the Grand Raven - a 700-pound, 6-foot raven sculpture welded from old oil drums and car tires that debuted at ArtPrize before roosting here for good. Born in 2020 as a socially-distanced way to lure people back downtown, it's grown into a spooky-but-family-friendly ritual of Victorian book walks reciting 'The Raven,' a raven-scarecrow contest, a New Orleans-style brass-band parade, and Poe readings all month long.
