Buttermilk Jamboree
Circle Pines Center has folk music in its bones: blues legend Big Bill Broonzy worked in the kitchen here from 1953 to 1956, and when Pete Seeger came to visit on the Fourth of July in 1957, they jammed on the farmhouse steps - footage that captured the last time Broonzy ever sang. The farmhouse still stands, and since 2011 the co-op has thrown this three-day festival across its 300 wooded acres: five stages of Michigan bands, workshops, a kids' music stage, swimming, and camping under the pines.
