906 Art on the Lake Festival
It started in 2000 when a local woman talked the Curtis chamber into sponsoring a one-day art festival; forty vendors turned up. That modest success caught the attention of a benefactor who funded the land that became Curtis Park and, eventually, the Erickson Center for the Arts. Now merged with the 906 Festival into a single free celebration of Upper Peninsula arts and culture on the shore of South Manistique Lake: fine art vendors, a 906 photography contest, cloggers and live music from the band shell, a beer tent, and an ice cream eating contest.
