Humongous Fungus Fest

In 1992 a scientist found a single honey-mushroom fungus sprawling across 37 acres beneath Crystal Falls - thousands of years old, hundreds of tons, once crowned the largest living organism on Earth - and this town of under 2,000 has thrown it a party every summer since. Even after bigger fungi turned up elsewhere, Crystal Falls flatly refuses to concede the crown, celebrating with a fungus parade, a BBQ cook-off, a giant mushroom pizza, and 'Spore-tacular' small-town pride.
