Copper Country Strawberry Festival
Strawberries have anchored Chassell's economy since the 1920s, and the Lions Club has thrown this festival every second weekend of July since the beginning - now more than 75 years. The homemade shortcake is the draw, but the weekend also brings a strawberry-themed parade, the crowning of the Strawberry Queen, a dance, and a craft and art fair at Centennial Park that grows every year, all in a village of a few hundred on the Portage Canal.
