U.P. Pasty Fest
Cornish miners brought the pasty - a hand-held meat-and-potato pie - to the Keweenaw's copper mines in the 1800s, and Calumet now celebrates the U.P.'s signature food with a gloriously absurd 'Pasty Olympics.' Watch strongmen strapped to a truck full of pasty ingredients drag it 100 feet (so your pasty gets home hot), teams build a giant pasty with pool noodles and mops in the Pasty Relay, and competitors attempt to beat the eating record of 4.5 pasties in five minutes.
