Emerald Isle Irish Féile
In 1851 more than 150 people left Arranmore Island off County Donegal and eventually settled on this island in Lake Michigan, which is why it's still called America's Emerald Isle. The two islands were officially twinned in 2000, and the Féile is the result - one year the Arranmore Pipe Band made the crossing in reverse, stepping off the ferry playing pipes and drums for a crowd of descendants waiting on the dock. Music, storytelling, currach rowing, and the Beaver Island Irish American Hall of Fame, on an island you can only reach by boat or small plane.
