Alden Strawberry Fest

Four hours on Father's Day weekend - noon to four, or until it sells out - at the old railroad depot on the shore of Torch Lake. That's the whole event: fresh Michigan strawberries over local shortcake with real whipped cream, served to whoever makes the trip to this village of a few hundred. A Traverse City cycling club rides thirty-odd miles around the lake every year just to get a bowl of it.
